How to Buy the Best Gas Ranges for Your Kitchen

By admin in Additions

Have you purchased a new home and are planning to buy a new gas range for the kitchen? Then you would undoubtedly want to buy the best cooking range you can get your hands on. And this is why you need to be careful at the time of purchase, and inspect the product properly before making your decision.

Of course, the bodywork and the quality of metal the burners are made of deserve a lot of attention from you, but these are not the only factors that should govern your selection. There are couple other pointers you need to keep in mind, especially since you are buying a gas range for domestic usage. These are:1. The amount of heat the gas range is capable of generating: The heat produced by gas ranges is measured in terms of British Thermal Unit (BTU). If you were buying a gas range for commercial purposes, then you would want to get a product that can generate a lot of heat, and hence go for ranges with high BTU ratings. That would get the cooking done fast, but greatly increase fuel usage. For domestic usage, however, buying gas ranges with lower BTU ratings is a smart idea. That way, the appliance will generate less heat, but do it for longer, without burning too much gas. This is the ideal scenario for cooking at home, since you will likely be cooking a couple of dishes at a time, without being in too much a hurry to serve the meal.

2. Compatibility with propane cylinders: Always choose gas ranges that can be fitted with propane tanks. This will grant you a lot of flexibility in the long run. For instance, if you plan to move to another residence later on, then propane-powered gas ranges will provide maximum portability. Besides, the moderately priced propane will allow you to cook without worrying about fuel prices all the time.

Last but not the least – consider the altitude at which you live. If you live on the sea level, fine. However, if you live on higher altitudes, then you may need the gas valves adjusted likewise. Let the seller know about the altitude of your home from sea level when you are buying the gas range, so that he can make the adjustments right there.
